New Art Journaling Blog is UP! Altered Book and a Page

This NEW BLOG is now up and running. You can move easily from one blog to another with the tabs on the top. I really would appreciate your letting me know what you think of the format or if you have any suggestions. As always, I love to hear your comments on any of my work. I was born a teacher and life-long learner, so this give me an outlet to share.

Back in January, I found an old book in a junk shop and made a book to use the bits and pieces that are left when working on a "real" page. I ripped out lots of pages, made a fun cover, and glued some pages together. Then I slopped some gesso on pages. Whenever I have leftover paint, ink on stamps, scraps and such, I put them in this book.
So, here's the problem. If I use one of the pages to actually art journal, I can't remember what I used to do the page so long ago. Do any of you have this problem? If so, do you have suggestions? Or, do I just move on and not worry about it? This spread has layers of paints and such on it.
I do know that today I used some drywall tape that I just got, both to glue on to the page and to paint over. I also used some acrylic daubers, and my homemade star stencil. I DON'T know what paint is on the background and also have no idea of where that teddy bear stamp came from since I don't think I even have one. (Of course, if you saw my studio, you wouldn't wonder why I don't even know what I have LOL!) I really LOVE that drywall tape that I picked up at Lowe's. It is self-adhesive and then the leftover part can be used as a stencil too. A huge roll was less than $6.00 and should last a long time. I'm thinking that I can probably even cut it into shapes. Hummmm, off to play!

Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment if you have the time :)

  1. I keep a pocket notebook handy, and if I think I'm going to write-up a how-to I write down what I'm doing as I go along. If you like to keep pockets in your journal, you could tuck the notes inside. Or do a tag first and write the steps on the back, then keep the tag with the page. I wouldn't worry about it though, unless you do intend to show others how to do the technique or find yourself wishing you could remember how to do techniques.

  2. I am going to do exactly that, Sandra. I thought, on this particular blog, that I would try to give the details of what I am doing as an aid to others. Thanks for the input.
