I started with lots of acrylic paint that I smooshed about with a credit card (mostly because I don't like cleaning brushes). I added some shreds of deli wrap printing I had done (the dark rasberry). I drew out an outline of the giraffe with a white Stabillo pencil, added many layers of paint, used my fingers for the spots. The tree trunk was a solid dribble of green acrylic that, after dry, I added some sea sponged greens for leaves. When dry, a bit of the tangle, Meer, and white gel pen accents. Then I added some more Pitt pens to the giraffe and to the edges.

I love your happy giraffe :) great interpretation of the lesson!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shel. Her approach gave me the freedom to just do what I was feeling. I even painted over the giraffe a few times, and I would never have done that before.
DeleteWhat an adorable whimsical giraffe. I love your boldness with color! I am working on that! :D Thank you for the visit to my blog. You asked the type of fold... it is a double gate fold. Here is a tutorial http://bzbstamper.com/double-gate-fold-card/
ReplyDeleteI found mine on SCS but I cannot find it now.. This one is the same fold..... great instructions. I would love to see what you create with it if you choose to make one! D: Marie
Thank you, Marie. You are so kind. Art journaling allows a lot more freedom for getting messy with colors than working with the Copics. I enjoy both though. Thank you so much for the tutorial. I really like that design and will certainly play with it soon. Actually, as soon as someone figures out how to give me more hours in a day LOL!
DeleteSuch a cute giraffe...I love him...fabulous art journalling...

I just love giraffes, Sandra. Thank you.
DeleteThis is fab! I love giraffes too :o) The background you've created is brilliant, I always find credit type cards are great at moving paint around!! Thanks for sharing at Altered Eclectics this month - Steffi :o) xx
ReplyDeleteGiraffes just seem so human with those large eyes. Remember the commercial with the tiny giraffe on the sofa. Oh, how I wanted one LOL!
DeleteBeautiful project! Thanks for sharing over at Altered Eclectics! Hugs Erin xx
