Poe Appreciation Day #5

I'm posting twice today for the Poe Appreciation Day blog hop over at Leigh SB Designs since it is the last day. What fun this has been seeing some, new to me, talented creators! I am using the Tangled Dark Raven image on a tag for this final post.
The black tag is from Graphic 45, the tiny heat embossed images are from Little Acres Creations Spooky, sentiments are by Tim Holtz, and the ribbon, charm, and Washi tape are from my stash. The background for the raven was done with Copic markers. Since "real" tangling is not done in color, I thought I'd see what the raven would look like left in the black and white. I do like it this way.
Thanks so much for your visit. So nice to meet you all, and I love reading your comments.

Distress Paint Resist Tag

Hopelessly behind on Tim Holtz's Creative Chemistry 103. This is from day 2, Distress Paint Resist Technique, using Distress Paint, Stain, and Inks. I added some die cuts from a stamp set, Simon Says Nature, that was embossed first on black cardstock. Some Remnant Rubs were added, Washi Tape, and a bit of gold pen.
Thanks for stopping by. I love reading your comments!

Summer of Creative Chemistry Week Six - Cemetery

Online Card Classes, Summer of Creative Chemistry week 6 of class 102 inspired me to make this tag. I used the ombre technique with alcohol inks, but used Silver Mixative for the top, Slate for the middle, and Black for the bottom. Then I stamped, Cemetery from Stampendous, using Archival Ink. I added two strips of double sided tape and stamped "Smile". Both were embossed with Ranger Silver. I added some Black Soot paint to the top of the manilla tag and added some sparkly ribbon. I also added two small silver brads.

Thanks for stopping by, and an extra thanks if you've left a comment!

Summer of Creative Chemistry Promt #6

Today's tag was made following the Summer of Creative Chemistry 102 revisit from Tim Holtz, an Online Classes offering. I used Distress Paints, picked up from my craft sheet, and applied through stencils. I sprayed with inks. Then I added some Distress Inks. Then some stamping. The edges were gone over with some Black Soot. I added more stamping, some white gel pen, and a few words from the Chit Chat set from Tim Holtz Idea-ology. Photo below shows the colors I used.
Thank you for stopping by. I love reading your comments!

Summer of Creative Chemistry 102 with Distress Paints

Today's tag was made following the Summer of Creative Chemistry 102 revisit from Tim Holtz, an Online Classes offering. I used Distress Paints, picked up from my craft sheet, and kept spraying with water as it was drying. I did some over coloring with Distress Inks. I added some of Tim Holtz' fun stamps. The edges were gone over with some Black Soot. But the best part was making my own colored ribbon. I used seam binding and sprayed with many colors of Distress Stains to make a one of a kind ribbon.

Documented Life Week ColorWheel and a Moo

Do you ever have a plan for a page and then it goes, all by itself, someplace else?

The Documented Life Project, with a January theme of "the blank page", added the challenge of Color Wheel and prompt of "I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way . . . “ by Georgia O’Keeffe.

So, I had this vision of beautifully colored tulips on a bright and cheerful background. This is what I got:
"Why do two colors, put one right next to the other, sing? Can anyone explain this? No"...Pablo Picasso
The shapes are from some alcohol ink dipped photo papers and some gelli prints. I did a lot of doodling and added lots of acrylic paint. I used washi tape and Pitt pens. I added white and black gel pens.

And, here are the steps I took that brought me to anything but a field of tulips!
Colored with Neocolors

Brushed with water, added ephemera with Collage Pauge
Covered with white gesso
Added acrylic dots and black gesso
As you probably know, I'm simply not doing enough these days. I only keep up three blogs (all reachable through the top tabs), teach Zentangle / Art Journaling / Copic coloring, enjoy the Inchie challenge, the Diva Challenge, the Square One prompt, the Documented Life, Creative Jump Start, Life Book, and am on the Design Team at The Outlawz. So, my friend, Zoe, things I should also join in on the Moo-Mania challenge. Love you Zoe!!!
I colored the tag with Neocolors and brushed with water to turn into a watercolor look. Added a napkin on the left with matte medium, The flowers were gelli prints on books and deli paper, and the butterfly was colored with Copics.

The Documented Life Project Week Two

The Documented Life Project challenge for this week is Gesso. I threw down a bit of yellow, orange, and green acrylics and several dollops of gesso and used a brayer to cover the pages. Then I used my Faded Text Background from Stampabilities with some black ink.  Added some gesso stencil leaves and more stamping in black. Made some flowers, described below and used gel medium to attach them, the quote, and tags. Used my finger to stamp green circles and added details with a white gel pen. Finishing touch was to ink the edges. The prompt this week was: “The beginning is always today.” -Mary Shelley

Sandi Keene left a link on how to make her deli paper flowers. It is free and I highly recommend watching it if you like these fun flowers on my page.I used a gelli plate to color some book pages and deli wrap that were then used to make the flowers.

The tag, you may recognize, was made a few days ago. Just click back to the last post to see details on the tag. The white strips were leftovers (waste not) from punching out some squares for the Inchie challenge that I contribute to every Monday. (You can check out my Copics and Paper Fun tab on the top bar to see some of them too.)

Thanks for stopping by and I LOVE comments :)
